Tamantirto Time-lapse

In the village of Tamantirto on the outskirts of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, I move in and out of stillness in and around a paddy-field. Sped up at a ratio of 125:1, an 83-minute shot would be condensed into 40 seconds. It was shown in Tamantirto, to a gathering of local residents in May 2010, and at Alchemy Film and Moving Image Festival UK, in October 2011. The Alchemy programme introduces it in this way:
